Question
QUESTION: All of a sudden (I probably slipped and hit some weird key combination) my selection tool displays text describing what I am selecting (anchor, path...) and snaps to objects on locked layers (quite useful for the most part actually) but I want to be able to get my old selection tool back sometimes- How?

ANSWER: Hi Gregor,
I think you pressed "CTRL" + "U" which will activate the smart Guides. They are very useful and can be adjusted to help with your work.
If you don't like them simply hit "CTRL" + "U" again or go to the "View" menu at top of the screen and slide down to uncheck "Smart guides" and they'll disappear.
Please let me know if this solution fixed the problem.

QUESTION: Can I edit the colors of the 'smart Guides'? How the snap and stuff?

Answer
Hi Gregor,
Yes you can change the options of the smart guides. You'll find it under Edit/Preferences/Smart Guides & Slices (on PC). On a MAC it's on the top menu under "Illustrator/Preferences/Smart Guides & Slices". Change their option to your desire.

Please let me know if you had the issue with your selection tool fixed.
Best regards,

Laith
