Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator wont save or print a PDf
Expert: Amy - 10/1/2007
QuestionI have created a card and it will save the first time. When I try to save it any time after it says Illustrator has encountered a problem and closes right away without saving anything I just did. Then I tried to print as a PDF and the print option will not even popup after clicking it, and it also will not save as a PDF. It says "Cannot save image" I have never had these problems before today. Thanks for your help

Tessa, just after I answered your question, I saw this post in the google groups that you should read. It's about Print Spooler and CS3 crashes. Don't know what OS you're using but...

Hi Tessa.
This is probably something you won't be able to fix but we can try some things.
1. Restart your whole machine. Acrobat may be having global difficulties.
2. I don't know what version you're using but you can try deleting the AIprefs file. Do this while AI is not running. For CS3, delete entire "Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings" folder. If you don't want to have to re-set all your prefs, simply move this folder to the desktop or somewhere. If it doesn't solve the problem, you can quit AI and you can move the old prefs folder back. Again, do this while Illustrator is not running. For older versions, look for and delete or move the AIprefs file.
3. Do a Ctrl+Alt+Del and quit Acrotray if it's running. Similar issue as in #1. I have had this cause problems a couple of times.
4. Bad font. Try deleting all files matching the pattern Adobefnt*.lst
If that doesn't work, quit AI, remove all non-essential fonts from the system's fonts folder and try again.
If everything starts, you have a corrupt font.
Quit and put the fonts back in, a few at a time, until the error recurs.
Hope something helps!
