Adobe Illustrator/Ilustrator Page Set up

Question
Hi Amy
I produce a local A5 publication in which i create the ads in illustrator 9.0 (pc)(quarter/half and full page)individually. I then place all the ads onto a disc and send to my printers who in turn place the ads manually to the template (quark) before they print. Sounds a bit messy. Is there a way of setting up my document(artboard) in illustrator so that i can see say 24 A5 pages allowing me to then create the ads where i want them, save the file as 1 in order to make the printers life easier and to ensure that everything is where i want it to be.

Hope it makes sense.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Milos.

Yes you can do that, but it's kind of kludgey.

It's all done in DOCUMENT SETUP/PRINT SETUP.

In Document Setup,
1) Enter 4000mm for artboard width
2) Enter 250mm for artboard height
3) Click Landscape for Orientation
4) UNCHECK Use Print Setup
5) CHECK Tile Full Pages

6) Click PRINT SETUP button and
7) Select A5, portrait orientation.

8) Click Okay to get out of Print Setup and again to get out of Document Setup.

9) In document, use PAGE TOOL (bottom-most left on tool box)
and click somewhere near the bottom-left corner of your artboard.

You should now have 26? full pages showing!

Have fun and have a good weekend!!!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
