Adobe Illustrator/JPG

Question
Dear Amy,

I'm not sure you can help...but if you know Illustrator, I have faith in you. It's probably very simple and I feel foolish and am about to give up. But...if you can help I would be obliged. My OS is WIN XP & I use Internet Explorer for my browser (Both up to date)Here's the prob:

When I visit any websites to download images (I like album covers) - I would right click and have the option to save as a JPG.

Only now - A setting has been changed some where either on the OS or the Browser? When I right click to save the image...the only option is to save it as a BMP!

Do you have any idea how to change it back?

Thanks

Mike M

Answer
Hi Mike,

If you go to save an image from a web page and the only option available to you is BMP, your cache is likely full.
The way to fix this is to clear your cache:

In IE, choose Tools > Internet Options. You'll see the Internet Options box.

On the General tab under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.

Click OK to close the dialog box.

Hold down SHIFT and click Refresh on the toolbar to reload the page.

Hope this works
Amy

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
