Adobe Illustrator/PDF format

Question
Whenever I try to save a file out of Illustrator 10 as an Illustrator 10 file, I receive the following message, "Acrobat PDF file format is having difficulties. Illustrator had a problem."  However it will save the file.
But when I try to save the file as a PDF, it gives the same error message, but does NOT save the file as a PDF.  If I convert all the type to outlines, it will NOT give me this message and will save the PDF. Could you tell me why I am receiving this message and how to correct it? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Kristen,
I haven't run into this problem so I'm not sure what to tell you.  It seems to point to a font problem though.  Try opening a new file and use a different font then try saving that as a PDF.  Some fonts have been known to cause errors when outputing or in your case saving as a PDF.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Thank you,

Tom
