Hey there Amy,  
     I am trying to reinstall Adobe illustrator on my new computer but I am having trouble.  80% into the installation , the installion paused and says. "Starting SVG viewer installer..".  It sat here for 45 doing northing, i thought maybe it was an error maybe, so i CNTRL,ALT,DELETED it and it said, Unable to read fonts or somethign of that sort.  I tried to install it again and it is doing the same thing.  Any idea what this is?  How can i get the program to install correctly?

PC =OS is XP home edition.  Illustrator 10

Hi Thomas.

There are a lot of problems with 10 in any platform.

I'd like to point you to this document:

It describes a lot of options for overcoming freezing during installation.

I'm going to suggest trying to install in safe mode first.

Read #6 in that link I provided if you don't know how to do that, but I believe you restart your computer and hold the F8 key during reboot.  Then choose safe mode or VGA mode from the list and follow the onscreen directions.

Please do look at that link I provided.  There is more info there than I can possibly give you in this message!
