QUESTION: I am trying to insert this symbol into an HP biz-card printing program by using the ALT 0174 - and it just turns the page blank.  I cut and paste that symbol from my character map - and it saves in Adobe Reader with  in front of it.  Can you help me?

Do you have Word or Word Perfect?
Try cutting and pasting from one of those programs.
What's the program called and what font are you trying to use?
And, last question, why do you need to save it as an Acrobat document?

QUESTION: Amy --
I attempted to cut and paste the ® from my Word program.  I got the same problem again.

The program I am using is from www.hp.com  "custom business card design" -- and the choice of font they offer doesn't seem to alter the problem.

I cannot see that the program allows me to save it as anything BUT an Acrobat document.

Thanks for anything you can do to guide me.

Hi Janet, I thought I answered this yesterday but here it is in my inbox, so I'll try to remember what I said.  =)

I suggested that you use another browser. If you don't have another browser, like Netscape or Firefox, to try, check your browser's preferences and make sure that you are using your Western font and the ISO-8858-1 character set.

If that doesn't do it, and you are not running any keyboard utilities for typing in foreign languages, etc. that could be causing the problem, I would write to HP and ask them for a suggestion on how to use their program.
