Adobe Illustrator/Response to Clipping Mask Answer

QuestionThanks for your response! I am saving the file in Illustrator CS as a pdf file. The printer does not have Illustrator, but opens it in Adobe Reader and that is where it says it is a 11 x 14 document (because it is changing paper size to fit hidden clipping mask).
Another strange thing is when I forwarded the pdf file to a friend who has a newer version of Illustrator...he resaved the file, doing NOTHING to it and then when opened again in Adobe Reader, the paper size is correct. For some reason the newer version autamatically corrects this?
AnswerHi Amy.
I believe you are correct - CS3 and possibly CS2 might have better capabilities for saving PDF files.
CS doesn't have those options.
So, until you upgrade, could you have your friend open and re-save your files for you? I was going to offer but since you've already got someone...
Seriously, though, if the printer is accepting PDF files he should have the full version of Acrobat that allows cropping, not just Reader. But I understand why they don't ($$$$$$$). I had to teach my local printer how to use the full version a couple months ago - they had just got their first copy of it!
Can you do the friend workaround?
