Adobe Illustrator/Saveing problem

Question
Hello Amy,

I've got a problem with saving .pdf and .ai files, there pops-up an error, which says "An unknown error has occurred"
I've heard that the corruption involves somehow fonts, but i couldn't figure out how... I tried to save a blank pdf file, without any text including, it worked, but when i wrote something there, the error showed up right away..

Could you please help me?

Thanks!

Taavi

Answer
Hello Taavi,

You are on the right track, I think. Sure sounds like a font corruption issue.

Quit all adobe programs.
Search your computer for all instances of files with names containing "adobefnt"
Delete all files that end with .lst
BUT DO NOT delete the files that end in .db
The files named .lst will be recreated when you start Illustrator again.

That will probably fix it. If not, you will have to start removing fonts from your system and putting them back slowly to see which ones trigger the problem.

-Let me know!

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.
