Adobe Illustrator/Saving in Illustrator 9.0

Question
Hi. When I save in Illustrator 9.0 it seems to choose on it's own to save as a PDF
file even though I've chosen to save as Illustrator 9. Then, of course, when I
open it again I can't do anything with it. I've also gone into the Preview window
on the finder and changed it from PDF to Illustrator 9 to no avail. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kim

Answer
Hi Kim,

My first suggestion is to re-create your preferences file:
1 - QUIT AI
2 - Locate the file on your machine called AIprefs. Move it to the desktop.
3 - RESTART AI. Is the problem solved?
4 - NO: QUIT AI and move AIprefs file back to its original location. When prompted to overwrite newer file, do so.
5 - YES: Wonderful. Throw desktop copy of AIprefs in the trash.

I wonder if it's not a PPD issue. If it is, I think the above steps will solve it, too.

Please let me know if this fixes it!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
