Question
Hi, my direct select tool is not giving me the automatic option to rotate a selected item, you know, when the litle icon apears next to the arrow. What can I do? I was creating a path with the pen tool, then I switched over to the select tool to select the shape I had drawn and then it would not let me rotate it. I am usin Illustrator CS, on a PC. Please help!

Answer
Hi Antonio -

That automatic option you refer to is actually the "bounding box" feature of Illustrator.

To turn the bounding box option back on in Illustrator, hit Ctrl + Shift + B  or go to View > Show Bounding Box.

You must have turned them off by accident. People write with that problem quite frequently, so you're not alone!

Happy drawing!

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
