Adobe Illustrator/Showing actual font typefaces in menu of CS2

Question
Hello Tom,
I recently bought and installed CS2 onto my PowerBook.  My font
pull down menu in my character window only displays the name of
the font and not the actual typeface.  It is kind of a pain to go
through all the fonts to find the one that works.  I would like to
know how to fix it so that my font names show up in their actual
typeface.  Any info would be useful.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Chris,

What you need is a font management program like Extensis Suitcase.  This will do two things it will allow you to view the fonts and you will be able to have hundreds or thousands of fonts loaded without having all of them open at the same time.  You can choose which you want as standard then select others to "turn on" as needed.  Another feature is you can organize the fonts in folders like serif, sans serif, script, etc...
but the best part is only having what you need open.
There are a few other programs out there but I use Suitcase so I'm most familiar with that one.  I think it costs about $100.
Hope this helped.

Thank you,
Tom
