Adobe Illustrator/Symbols missing in PDF version

Question
Hi
I am creating a map in Adobe Illustrator CS2.3 (Windows) and have created a couple of custom symbols to make an oil pipeline -basically two different pieces of pipe wich I can join up to make on long curving pipe. It looks fine in Illustrator, but when I save it as a PDF, in the PDF version, one of the symbols is missing. The other is fine, so what should be a continuous pipeline has every other section missing.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Katy,

Why don't you "select all" and try an Object > Expand.
Then save the file as a PDF or print to a PDF.

Don't forget to UNDO the Expand immediately afterwards so that you don't accidentally save over your AI file with the symbols expanded.

Let me know if that helps?

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
