Question
Hi. I'm using adobe illustration 9.0. My problem is, when i try to open a file i get an error message that says: "Can't open the illustration. The illustration exceeds an implementation limit." What does it mean? What did i do wrong? Is there a way that i can open this file again? it's the only illustration file in my PC and i can't afford to lose this one. HELP!

thanks.

Answer
Hi Denise.

That message means the file got corrupted somehow and Illustrtor's going nuts trying to read it. Most likely, you did nothing wrong. Was it e-mailed to you?  That's a common message in a file that becomes corrupt during mailing.  Illustrator docs are extremely vulnerable. It could also be a sign of other types of corruption, too... that's just one I hear a lot about.

This works once in a while... open a blank Illustrator document and try placing the corrupt file into it via File > Place.

I also run 9 on PC.  If you can't place it...why don't you try sending it to me and I'll see if *I* can open it over here.

All Experts has no way for us to send files back and forth, so I just give people my Yahoo address. Send it to AmyLynPace@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to give it a shot.

Talk to you soon.

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
