Adobe Illustrator/Text to object.

Question
Hi!
I own Adobe Illustrator 10.  How do I get text to wrap around the outside or inside of a circle where the bottom or top of the letter touches the circle and follows the curve (as if the letters are sitting on the surface of the circle going around the circle).

Thanks for your help, I very much appreciate it.

Best regards,

Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,

That's pretty easy, actually.

To do the basic typing, use the Path Type tool.  It's hidden under the main Type tool (T) and looks like a T sliding down a hill.

Click on the TOP of your circle with it and begin typing.
Once you've got the basic text on there, you can use the regular paragraph alignment functions and character controls to determine more specific placement.

Now here's the part that's fun.

Deselect the text and circle.

Now, when you select the text and circle with the black arrow tool (V), you'll see a colored "I-bar" appear in the text.  If you grab onto that I-bar and drag it around, you can move the text around the circle. You can even flip it to the inside of the circle.

Hope this helps,
