Dear Amy,
I was asked to send a design in pdf / illustrator / vector format. After doing the art work in Illustrator 10, converting it to pdf format I sent it to the person concerned but I got the following response from him,quote,
"Thx for pdf file can they send to us in Vector format with pantone
numbers to make it so I can print sample heat transfer label for your
customer?" unquote.
FYI the design is a logo for garment.
Will appreciate your help very much.

Hi Basher,

Vector format is the format created by Illustrator. The artwork is made up of postscript commands.

The "opposite" format is raster, which is what PhotoShop or other such programs creates.

Even though Illustrator artwork is vector, the Illustrator effects and filters result in raster artwork within the document.

I suspect you have some raster items in your file.
