Question -
adobe errors when opening recently purchased clip art. They are adobe file .
I get an error" mps parser unable to parse"
How do i get around this?
Answer -
Hi Pete.
Are they EPS or AI files?
Have you tried opening a blank document and attempting to PLACE the file instead of open it?
Also, you may need to reinstall your Illustrator, making sure that you install all the filters (unable to parse usually means that a filter is missing).
Write back and let me know what type of file it is.

AnswerTry PLACING the clip art file into a new blank Illustrator document instead of opening it.
If your clip art came with some sort of postscript viewer, try copying the objects from there and pasting them into an AI document.
If this is happening to all of the clip art, I'd call the clip art manufacturer and ask what's up. If it's only happening with some of it, it's possible that the clip art you bought was not created in Illustrator at all. That's common.
If they were created in AI v10 or CS and you only have AI v 9, or contain effects that 9 cannot handle, you'll also get that message.
Do an experiment: Try changing the file name of the clip art to something short and sweet, like file.ai and see what happens.
I seriously wish you luck, it'd be a real pain to purchase clip art and not be able to use it.
