Adobe Illustrator/colour issues

Question
When I work in either Illustrator or photoshop at this office, the colours are always washed out when it is exported to PDF. It seems impossible to get saturation, such as pure magenta, to show up in the document. I am working in CMYK and picking colours generally from a swatch

Answer
Hi Mark.

I think the "wash out" is due to your DISPLAY preferences in Acrobat. I seriously think there's a bug in Acrobat that makes it display poorly.

If you go into Advanced > Print Production > Output Preview and select a Color Proofing Mode like Sheetfed Coated, does it show up properly?

That's what happens to me. When that happens, I go into Preferences and toggle the preferences that relate to display and color management and that usually fixes it for awhile.

Give it a shot!?

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
