Adobe Illustrator/delete backround
Expert: Tom Rouze - 6/11/2007
QuestionQUESTION: I have a logo I created in Adobe Illustrator (CS2). How come when I bring this
image into a document with a backround, I get a white box around my logo? The
fill for the logo itself is none, yet I cannot figure out how to make the
surrounding area none. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
ANSWER: Hi Mary,
If you created the logo in Illustrator, open the file and check if either the item is grouped, or a compound mask or compound path. Try ungrouping first but be careful that nothing changes after you ungroup. Sometimes an effect is applied to group objects.
If this works great, if not let me know and we'll review the file and go from there.
Thank you,
Tom

QUESTION: Thank you for your response Tom! Yes, the logo was grouped, so I did ungroup it but the surrounding area still remains white. Also, I am not familiar with how to make compound masks or paths but since those options are gray in the pull down menu I dont believe that is an issue. Any other ideas on why this is happening?
Thanks,
Mary
AnswerMary,
Hmmm... is there a placed image used as part of the logo? If so, then it could be that you may have to change the background in Photoshop. If not, it's probably a simple fix. If you'd like you can send me the file and I can take a look at it later this afternoon.
Thank you,
Tom
