Questioni have a problem when trying to resave or delete eps files. do you know why this may be?
AnswerHi Jacqui,
There are a number of possibilities.
Here are some things to try.
If you are running any version of Adobe Acrobat in the background, quit it before saving. If you're on a PC, you can use your task list to see if it's running in the background (invisibly).
If you are using CS2 and installed it right over CS, uninstall the application and reinstall cleanly. You can find instructions on how to do a "clean install" at Adobe.com
One user reports that turning off PDF compatibility when saving eliminates the error. Another user reports that checking both AICB and PDF clip board compatibility in Preferences solves his problem.
Some people say that it is a font issue.
One person said he converts all fonts to outlines before saving. That might work for him but it wouldn't be a great answer for me.
Then there's the CS2 installation bug where there are no fonts in the "Adobe Required Fonts" folder after install. To explore this further, locate that folder and see if it's got about 160 fonts in it or only 1 font. If it has only 1 font, the answer is to reinstall CS and move that folder to a safe location, install CS2 (which installs a "bad" Adobe Required Fonts folder), then move the folder you rescued back to its required location.
If this isn't the problem, it could be that your document contains fonts that are not "embeddable" and for some reason, you are getting errors rather than 'can't embed' messages during save.
You can narrow it down by working with a dummy file with no fonts and no linked images and see if the problem still occurs.
As far as deleting undeletable? files from your machine, obtain a copy of the freeware program called Remove on Reboot for the PC (available all over the internet). You didn't say if you are on a PC or not. For a Mac, I'm sure there are similar programs.
For furtner insight, search for answers in the the user forums at Adobe.com, a great resource. You'll see that a lot of people have encountered the problem you descrobe.
Thanks
Amy
