Question
Hi! I have Illustrator CS2 on PC. This message show on my screen about a file very important for me and don't have support for this file. Please help. Thanx.

Answer
Hi Julio,

The file is most likely corrupt.

You could try:
1 - Create a new Illustrator document.
2 - Choose File > Place
3 - Locate the bad file
4 - Do not check the LINK option
5 - Click Place.

If it works, you will be able to work on the file. Layers will be lost, though, if you had any.

Other than that, there is currently no way to repair a damaged Illustrator file. I believe Adobe is working on that, though.

The other thing you could try, if you have Distiller, is to try to Distill the file and create a PDF, then open the PDF in Illustrator. I've had that work occasionally.

Good luck!!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
