Question
Hi Amy,

What i'm trying to do in Illustrator is insert a blinking gif and it will no animate whenever i insert it. How can i get the gif to animate in my document?

Thank You,
Stephanie

Answer
Hi Stephanie.

You can insert gifs in Illustrator but you'll never see the animation.

Animated gifs can only be viewed in programs used to make them like ImageReady or GifMation. They can also be viewed in web pages or opened directly with browsers like Internet Explorer or Netscape.

You can create graphics for web pages using Illustrator but any animated gifs must be inserted into the html code using a web page editor like DreamWeaver or FrontPage.

Hope this helped!
Amy

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
