Question
after I right click on my pdf file;I navigate too the 'open with' menu and I'm unable too add illustrator after I choose the illustrator?
It sounds like your pdf file was saved by another application besides illustrator where you do not have the "preserve illustrator editing capabilities". Try opening it through illustrator. If you cannot open it that way, you may have an older version of illustrator that cannot read the pdf version you are using.
