Expert: Amy - 10/29/2007
QuestionQUESTION: iv installed illustrator cs2 and there aren't any fonts atall to choose from, i'v looked in the adobe illustrator cs2 folder under fonts and there isn't anything there atall
is there anything i can do to get them?
ANSWER: Hi Sam
Illustrator should be using your system fonts as well as the ones that aren't in the folder you're talking about.
QUIT all Adobe apps
Locate and delete all fonts matching the naming pattern adobefnt*.LST (make SURE they are LST files).
Restart Illustrator.
As far as the fonts not being installed into your Adobe folder, I recommend you try the install again.
Good luck!

any ideas? thanks for helping me :)
AnswerHi sam.
First, try resetting your preferences.
Directions:
1. Quit Illustrator.
2. Drag the Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings folder from the Users/ [user] /Library/Preferences folder to the Trash.
3. Restart Illustrator.
This probably won't work but it is worth a shot.
Unfortunately, I think you may have a bad/corrupt font in your collection of fonts.
Directions for removing/troubleshooting fonts here
Mac:

Windows:

You didn't specify which platform, so I included links to both troubleshooting documents. Fair warning, isolating and removing damaged fonts can take a long time.
reinstalling AI won't help - the fonts will still be damaged.
Let me know...
