Adobe Illustrator/illustrator plug in
Expert: Amy - 5/30/2006
QuestionAmy- The files are all in the right place, and they are there, but for some reason Illustrator is not seeing them. I am suppose to be able to go to "Window" , "Show plug ins" but the choice isn't there. I also am trying to open or place tiff files and it tells me it can't identify them? How do I do a re-install, cleanly?-Jennifer
Hmm,
You had plug-ins disappear when you cleaned your desktop? That's odd. Can't explain that one.
First of all, try quitting Illustrator, locating deleting the aiprefs file, and re-launching.
Otherwise, just re-install your plug-ins from the installation disk. Or is that what you did to get to where you are now? A complete re-install would fix it if you can do that... last resort, though.
Another thought: The plug-ins you mention are all tool plug-ins. They belong in a subfolder of the plug-ins folder named "Tools." (Illustrator 6.0/Plug-ins/Tools) If you have them just in the plug-ins folder, try creating a "Tools" folder within and moving them there.
Hey, I still use 9.0 and I refuse to budge. I am too fast on it and I don't have time for an upgrade learning period right now... so don't feel obligated!
Let me know!

AnswerYour filters are missing.
Indulge me for a moment.
Are you launching Illustrator from the Desktop Alias???
Try this before doing anything else. Go to the Illustrator folder and double click on the application icon. I just remembered a Mac-specific problem similar to yours... has to do with bad aliases.
Let me know.
