Adobe Illustrator/How to insert text with different programs

Question
Hi there I have saved a flyer in illustrator however my client wants to be able to add text whenever she likes although she does not have the program.  How do I save my work so other people can add text from their computers?

Answer
Hi Rochelle,

Well, you have a couple options. You can save the flyer, without the text she wants to add, as a hihg-res jpeg file, then place the jpeg into Microsoft Word or even Microsoft Publisher and she (or you) can create a text box in the spot where the new text needs to go.

OR (and this is more software dependent and more difficult) you can save the Illustrator file as a PDF file, then use Adobe Acrobat Professional (the complete version) to create an "interactive" PDF file where the client can add/modify text. Just typing that gives me a headache. It can be done but it is much more work than the first solution.

Well, I hope one of these fits your needs!

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
