Adobe Illustrator/how to install illustrator CS2
Expert: Amy - 9/30/2006
QuestionHi, i just wanted to ask a question about the window installer clean-up utility.
I was told to use this utility because i have been having problems installing Illustrator CS2, but I have been reading about this utility, and it says that "if i use this utility, i might have to reinstall other programs"
And the thing is that i have other graphic programs on my computer like Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.
Is this utility going to affect these other programs that i have on my computer? If it does, is there another solution to fix my installation problem because i don't want these programs to be affected. I really need these programs for school!

for about a week now, i have been trying to install illustrator cs2 in my PC, but i have been having problems.
Everytime i'm in the beginning of install illustrator, the problem tells me exactly as written "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Illustrator CS2 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified."
I do I have to do to my system before i can install illustrator? I really need illustator in my PC because i going back to school to take graphic design.
please help me, if u can!

Hi Helena...
My first guess is that there are probably some installation artifacts on your PC from the first installation attempt. You need to get rid of those.
To do that, I would download Windows Installer Cleanup Utility 1.0 (it's free).

Once installed, run it and use it to uninstall AI CS2, then try the installation again. Hopefully it will work this time. If not, here is a link to a long but helpful document at Adobe about installation errors.

Good luck!

AnswerHmm,
I wouldn't think so but I can't tell without being there.
I think what it's talking about is shared components of programs.
BUT to be safe, why don't you use the Windows Control Panel to Add/Remove Programs. If Adobe Illustrator shows up in that list, go ahead and remove it. If it prompts you that removing shared files may result in other programs not working (it always does) choose not to remove those files.
If Illustrator doesn't show up in that list, I'd try installing in Safe Mode.
I think that the document I mentioned at adobe.com describes installing in Safe Mode. That's always a good idea.
Hope this helped,
