Adobe Illustrator/patterns

Question
Hi,
I need to know how to create complicated patterns. I have so many ideas but I can't seem to get them right. I know the basic trick of creating something inside a square and then moving it onto the swatch palette, but the problem is that I can't make something too complicated because of the measurements and becuase I don't know how to create "corners", like for example, if I wished to create a corner of a flower stationed at the corner of the square that will be completed once the pattern is put together (for example)... I moved the original illustrator patterns onto the art board to figure out how they were made but I can't seem to imitate them because I couldn't understand how they were made... I know I'm rambling but I hope you understood what my question is!   thank you very much

Answer
Hi Maram.

The designer at Northlite designs explains it better than I ever could... why reinvent the wheel, I guess. Take a look at this IN DEPTH tutorial.

Hope this helps - brushes can be fun but also extremely complex.

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
