Adobe Illustrator/the print marks

Question
Hello, I'm using Illustrator CS2 on my PC. I notice after I sent my artwork to the printer, they always add the crop mark and a mark looks like a cross hair. What is the cross hair for? and how do I make it?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Terry,

That's a registration mark - used to physically line up the different colored plates of a print job.

Those are added automatically by Illustrator during the print process. You can only add them when you print.

Choose File > Print.
Select Marks & Bleed on the left side of the Print dialog box.
Select the kinds of printer’s marks you want to add.

Hope this helps

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
