Adobe Illustrator/how ro insert Adobe EPS files into Microsoft word

Question
Amy:
I am using Adobe Illustrator CS2 and Microsoft Office 2003, using Microsoft XP professional.

I converted an ai file to Adobe EPS using the "save as" Illustrator EPS option. I did not change any of the options in the Save As Menu, i.e.:
Preview: TIFF (8-bit color),transparent.
Postscript Level 2

When I import the eps file into my MS word document, I do not see what I imported at all, just a blank page. When I double click on it, I see the box that contains the figure, but nothing else.

Do I need to install a filter of some sort? thanks.

Answer
Hi Laura,

Well, if you are seeing a box, that means that it has indeed imported the EPS using the filters installed with a basic install.  Otherwise, you'd get an error.

What a blank box means is that it's not recognizing the preview... try messing with the preview when you save as in Illustrator and changing it to OPAQUE versus transparent.

That was the key for me.

I also use PostScript Level 2 and I uncheck CMYK Postscript, although I am not sure that the latter means anything to Word.

I hope this helps
