Adobe Illustrator/rounded corners in illustrator CS2

Question
I'm importing multiple pictures on a page in illustrator 12.  I'd like them all to
have rounded corners.  How do I do this?

Answer
Hi Robin.

Since you can't edit photos in Illustrator, you'll need to give them all clipping paths with rounded corners.

The rounded rectangle tool is located under the rectangle tool. Select it and draw a rounded rectangle with no stroke and no fill, approximately the size of the photo.

Place the rectangle over the photo.

Select the photo and the rectangle and hit Ctrl + 7.

You will have created a clipping path with rounded corners. Clipping paths mask out portions of an image, in this case, the square edges!

To move the photo around but not its clipping path, just select it with the white (direct selection) arrow tool and move it around!

Let me know if you need any more help with this!

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.
