Adobe Illustrator/saving to PDF & colors

Question
i have created an illustrator file which includes a background which is red with 65 opacity. when i save this as a PDF and open it in Acrobat the red color is different to that i can view in ilustrator.

Answer
Hi Scott,

The color information in the file is most likely the same. However sometimes the program converts the veiwing color slightly.  I just explained this to one of my operators yesterday when she was working on a file.  She was creating a bleed on a file from a customer and used the same CMYK values but the color "looked" different on the screen.  I told her to go by the numbers and it will print okay.  It printed okay to her surprise.
It may be a color setting in the program when you open files in Acrobat. But as long as the color number values haven't changed and you haven't converted the file from RGB to CMYK or vice versa your file will print the same.

Thank you,
Tom
