Adobe Illustrator/saving and emailing a .eps file
Expert: Laith Ibrahim - 12/14/2007
QuestionI have a file that I created in illustrator on a pc. I need to email the file as a .eps and my file size sits at 17.8MB right now. My file size needs to be under 8MB in order for it to be email. Please help ASAP!
AnswerHi Kristin,
If you have images linked in your EPS file, when you save your file as EPS you'll have the option to include linked files or not. Do not include the images and your EPS file will be smaller then you can send the images in separate emails.
Also when you save the original file as an EPS, save and give your file a new name. Sometimes when you work on a file and save every minute or so your file will get bigger and bigger. Saving in a new name will remove all the extra date that made the file large.
What will be use of your file and why you need to send an EPS? Would you like to email the file(imagedpi@yahoo.com) so that I can check it. I will be able to give you other solutions or return it to you ready for email.
The quickest solution if your email cannot handle more than 8mb, is to use www.yousendit.com. You just have to put the email where you want to send your file then browse to your file, upload it and send. The person you send the file to will get a notification by email with a link that he/she can click on and start downloading your file (that can be as big as 100mb). This service is free.
Please let me know if any of the options worked for you. You can give me more information about your file in a follow-up and I'll be happy to find you more solutions.
Best regards,
Laith
