Question
The problem file seemed to have saved fine and in the folder it has the time saved as correct, but when I open it, it comes up with an error message and then only displays the illustration as it was 3 hours ago!

The error message is:
Offending Operator: 'AdobeNoteAttribute'
Context:
%(<</operation /xor defaultFill false>><< /operat)

%(ion /xpr /defaultFill false>>) /string

I can't loose this file and need to access it urgently! I have tried to change the .eps to .ai and .pdf and re-open, but no luck, I tried to place the file into a new illustrator document - which it did amazingly the most current version that I saved only 5 minutes ago but as a whole image, so i couldn't make any ammends to it... so the information is there - But how do i get it to open properly?  Please can you help?!?

When you tried placing it, did you place it LINKED or embed it? Try placing it (change file name to file.pdf) and make sure that [ ] Link is not checked when you do.

You should be able to edit the pieces. Layers will be gone but objects should remain separate.
