Adobe Illustrator/Can't save same file , have to rename.

Question
it appears to be common to many users. And its on and off.
on saving .ai illustrator says PDF file format is having difficulties. saving the renamed file is fine. But just not under the same file name.
I tried deteting profile file, not working.
Checked preferences, saving PDF compatible is not ticked.
Can you help?
Hi Jeff,
When this happens, do you have Acrobat running in the background?
If so, try closing it and let me know what happens.
Having the PDF document open in Acrobat prevents resave in AI. If this doesn't solve it, I'll offer more suggestions!
