Adobe Illustrator/transforming text boxes without transforming text within

Question
I have PC Illustrator 10 - i see you have 8 or 9 but this issue probably spans different versions. Up till a few days ago i have been able to creat a text box, type text within, then change the size of the text box without altering the size, shape, format of the text within. I can no longer do this. I figure i must have turned something on or off that i needed because i don't even see the open squares on the corners like i used to be able to grab and drag. No it has filled in ancher points instead. This is very difficult because when doing layouts, i need to be able to adjust the box inorder to fit a specific width. Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything in the manual or on line!

Answer
Hi Stacey!

Yes, that's a global question.  And a frequently asked one as well!

You accidentally turned off your bounding boxes.  Look under View and select "Show Bounding Box" or hit Ctrl + Shift + B.

Now when you select something using the black arrow selection tool (V), your boxes will be there.

Good luck

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
