Question
I am using Adobe Illustrator 11.O and I am on a PC.  I have done something to my selection tool by hitting control plus something else but cannot figure out what.  It has changed my selection tool to the "move arrow with a hollow box" when I want to expand my textbox.  Which I am not able to do because of this tool.  I have to redraw a text box everytime to resize. I have done this before and someone figured out a way to fix it in layers, but I am not able to get it back this time.  CAN YOU HELP ME! THIS is so frustrating and I hope I have explained well enough for you to help me.

I still have all the other selection tools, it is just when i want to enlarge the textbox you get that straight arrow on each end or if you want to rotate it you get the two curved arrows.  I don't get that anymore.  I get an arrow that looks like the move arrow with a hollow box.

if the adtelyellowpages doesn't work you can send it to blueswan002@yahoo.com

Thanks

Answer
Hi Karen

This is a common error.  I think you accidentally turned off Bounding Boxes.

You can either go to View > Show Bounding Boxes or hit Shift + Ctrl + B to urn them back on.

Let me know if that worked for you? I use v.9 but I think it's still the same in v.11.

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
