QUESTION: I have not used my InDesign,using a macG4 and CS for a few weeks and today I
was trying to place an image in a new document in InDesign and the document
froze. Even using command d made it freeze. When I clicked escape, It unfroze. I
tried restarting and still, When tring to place and object, it freezes

ANSWER: update adobe
update quicktime
update computer

you may need to reinstall, but try that first.

(if this is a "free" version, get a new one)

so... you updated everything, I'm assuming. (do that if you haven't yet, that will usually solve the problem).

umm...if you have...then I'm thinking it may be a computer problem. How are you on space? Do you have an Intel chip?

for space, get more ;)

for Intel: there were problems with CS and CS2, in which the randomly crash. CS3 fixed this problem. There's really nothing you can do to fix this.
