Question
hi I'm new with this programs and i heard that  you can do photoshop , illustrator and one more that i don't remember  in in design and it's better .. how true is that?
thanks

Answer
Hello Wendy,

While Indesign has some capabilities that Illustrator and Photoshop both have, it is a layout application. It's strength is in the layout design of a document, especially multi-page documents, not in image editing and illustration. Raster images, such as photographs, are better to be edited in Photoshop. Indesign can perform some simple transparency effects, but it has nowhere near the power and control of Photoshop. The same applies for vector graphics like .eps illustrations, sure Indesign will allow you to draw paths, but Illustrator reigns supreme in control of detail and precision.

Using the right application for the task at hand will ultimately result in expanding your design techniques, as well as make for a more well rounded professional look.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

Ken Black
