Adobe InDesign/Creating a booklet in InDesign

Question
Hello,
I have taken over publicity and public relations for an
educational, college-level dance program.  One of my first
jobs is to create a promotional/recruiting booklet that we
can mail and give out highlighting the department and its
work.  This is my first time taking on such a large
project.  Are there any good tutorials out there to help me
find my bearings when it comes to creating a booklet in
InDesign?  I am familiar with the basics of the program,
and I am looking to learn the finer points of the program
in order to make the piece visually interesting and
captivating.  Thank you for your time.

Hi Lynn,

You may want to check this out:

Also consider using one of the templates that come with InDesign.

Before you begin your project, I recommend nailing down these details:
1. where will you get art (photos and/or illustrations)?
2. what format will you use? (multi-page stapled booklet, folded brochure, etc.)
3. what size will it be?
4. number of pages?

It's a really good idea to begin by sketching your project on paper. This is a great way to get bad ideas quickly out of the way and to iron out the details before moving to the computer.

Youtube also has some video InDesign tutorials.

Good luck and feel free to ask me more specifics.
