Question
I am fairly new to InDesign and I am working on a magazine file that needs to have 5/8 of an inch margins but I do not know how to convert that into this pica and point system. I know 5/8 = 15.9 mm but how do I get that into the pica system for chaging the margins?

Answer
Hi Nikki,

You could do the math i.e.- 6 picas to 1 inch, 12 points to 1 pica, 72 points to 1 inch - here you multipy .625 (5/8") x 6 = 3.75 and then convert the .75 to points - .75 x 12 = 9 which gives you 3p9 for your margins.

or

Let Indesign do the math for you. Set your margins by the inch and then change you preferences - Preferences->Units and Increments change the units to inches, set you dimensions, then change them back to picas.

Thanks,
