Adobe InDesign/Creating my own "special character"

Question
Hello,

I am working on a book which has many pages of lists of people's names. Some of the names need a special character after them, to denote them. I'm using a lower case "v" in the wingdings font, in a specific color. Is there a way to create this "special character" and easily insert it?

In the past, I have just created a character style, then gone through and applied that character style to every instance. I could do that again, but wanted to see if there was an easier way.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Rebekah,

Yes, you do have the right idea. You need to make a character style for that particular character.

First select only the text that has the text that you want to change

Use the find/change panel

In the find field
type: ^p (end of paragraph)

In the change to field type: ^pv (end of paragraph)
then go to change format and add your character style.

click change all and your operation should be done!
