Adobe InDesign/InDesign error message - Opening the file

Question
I am trying to open an InDesign document created in InDesign CS2 using the
CS1 version. I cannot open the document. The error message I am getting is: "Cannot open....Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or
upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign". Is there a way the previous
designer could save it for me to open? She has already tried to export it as an
indesign interchange file, but the message I got upon trying to open that
was: "Cannot open....Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or
upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign". Any help would be
appreciated.

Answer
I believe you may not have the most updated version of CS1 that Adobe released. They released two versions of Adobe CS1 version 3.0.1. You need the one that is actually version 3.0.1(838) in order to open Interchange files. To find out which one you have, go to InDesign>About InDesign in the top menu. If the version isn't 3.0.1(838), then you need to run the update. I believe you can check for updates under Help>Updates.

I hope this helps.
