Adobe InDesign/Please HELP urgent!
Expert: Candice Anderson - 3/16/2008
QuestionI have to submit a file tomorrow and I am in dire straits! I had a 5gig indesign file, indesign cs2 for mac. I saved it, then started packaging so I could back it up. The computer froze, and I restarted. Now when I try to open the file, I get an "error code 5" telling me that the data in the file has been corrupted and is non-recoverable! When I check the size of the file, it is now 138 MB instead of 5gigs! Please please please does anyone know how I can recover my data?
AnswerFound this doing a quick google search.
In this case, first either delete the recovery data or say No to recovering when opening. That should open the last saved version (provided you did save at least once before the crash).
The saved data to delete (in CS2) you find at Macintosh HD/Users(your username/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 4.0/InDesign Recovery/RecoveryData. Delete the whole folder called InDesign Recovery. Make sure InDesign is not open when you do this.
also - I don't know how much this will help, but update your adobe software and your quicktime.
