Subject: InDesign lock file
Question We have one user when she creates or pulls a document into InDesign, the lock file is there and then she closes it goes away but when she gets back into InDesign, before InDesign is done starting up, the lock file comes back to the last document opened and give a memory error and never will let you pull the document up. And it doesn't matter what machine she is on. Any suggestions?
Answer Renee,
The locked file document is the autosave from a document that was previously open when InDesign was forced quit at some point. When you are trying to open ID you should get the option to choose yes, no or cancel if you want to open the recovery data. Choose cancel and it will delete the temp file.
If this isn't working, you can always reset your preferences.
Launch ID, and it is starting up.
On a PC hold down Control, ALT, and Shift until a window pops up asking you to delete your prefs. Click yes.
On a Mac hold down Command, Control, Option, and Shift until a window pops up asking you to delete your prefs. Click yes.
