About Sharon MacGregor
Expertise
I use Indesign on a daily basis for work, and at home in my more creative ventures. I can answer pretty much any type of question relating to production, design, page layout, and new features of CS3. I work on a PC (yes I know that is rare), so I am more familiar with the PC commands than mac, but I know that more often than not, the Ctril button on the PC is the same as the command button on the Mac, so they are the same!

Experience
I've been working in this field since 1988. Started out when they were still doing pasteup and using a wax machine :) Have worked on both Mac and PC on several programs, but my present employer uses PCs and I bought a PC for home so I could work at home. Right now, I work on educational/technical textbooks. I have experience with magazines, newspapers, corporate identity, page layout, and general design.

Education/Credentials
I have a BA in psychology with a minor in art, and am working towards an MA in Learning and technology integration (using computers to teach).

Subject: Text wrap in text boxes in CS3

Question
I am new to CS3 and so far the Adobe Video Workshop has been able to answer all of my questions.  However, I have a text wrap issue that is defying all of the instructions from the video.  Of course, it's most likely user error.

I am doing my first small book layout and have flowed the text.  I need to add testimonials that are separate from the primary text, so I have been trying to add text boxes with the testimonials into the primary text flow.  However, the primary text is not wrapping.  I have selected the primary text box and gone to Window> Text Wrap and tried all four of the wrapping options.  This makes the text in my testimonial text box disappear.  I also put the testimonial box on a separate layer and put a graphic under.

What have I done wrong?

Answer
You have to apply the text wrap to the testimonial text boxes, not the primary text flow, and make sure to bring the testimonial text boxes to front so that they are the top layer. I don't think you need to put them on a separate layer, but they need to be brought to be in the front of your primary text, or else they will dissappear.
