Adobe InDesign/Creating an A5 booklet in InDesign
Expert: Roy Wilhelm - 6/2/2008
QuestionQUESTION: Hello. I'm becoming familiar with Adobe Illustrator but am completely new to InDesign (version 2.0, though I will be receiving CS3 soon), which I intend to use for the creation of an 10-page A5 booklet. I'd appreciate any step-by-step advice you can offer. So far, I've written most of the text in Microsoft Word 2007, and eventually, I'll take the booklet to a professional printer.
Many thanks for your time,
Sajid
ANSWER: Hi Sajid,
I apologize for not getting to you sooner as I was out of town until yesterday evening. Do you still need help? If you do, answer me this one question before I explain how to create the booklet:
As a resident of the U.S. I'm not very familiar with the A-size paper system. Looking at the sizing structure through a Google search I'm assuming that an A5 booklet is made by folding an A4 in half and stapling the folded edge? Once you answer this, I can take you through the rest.
Best,
Roy

QUESTION: Hello, Roy,
Thanks for your response. An A4-size sheet of paper is slightly thinner and longer than the American Letter-size, and an A5 page is indeed half the size of an A4. Hope to hear from you soon, cheers.

AnswerHi Sajid,
I found this downloadable tutorial on making an A5 booklet using InDesign:

I'm assuming yours will not be so art-driven, but the sections explaining how to set up the document will be a good start.
Since AllExperts.com only allows for very few follow up questions, i'll give you my email in case you have more questions.
