Subject: Hyperlink - issues linking to InDesign CS3 file

Question
Hello,
I've created a hyperlink and filled out the Destination area (under Hyperlink
Options) with the following information: Document: in this area I browsed
until I clicked on a different InDesign CS3 document that is on my system.
Type: All Types. Name [None]. I exported the pdf, making sure to include
Bookmarks, Hyperlinks and Interactive Elements.
When I click on the link within my pdf document the following error comes
up: There was an error opening this document. This file could not be found.
What am I doing wrong? I also did a small amount of research and it looks
like you can only link to other InDesign files, websites or different pages of
the same document. Is this true? I would like to link to excel sheets, word
documents and other pdfs. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
Yes, this is true... to an extent. With just using ID you will not be able to link to external files. BUt if you have acrobat professional you will be able to. Open your file in acrobat and with its hyperlink tools you will be able link to external files.
