About Sharon MacGregor
Expertise
I use Indesign on a daily basis for work, and at home in my more creative ventures. I can answer pretty much any type of question relating to production, design, page layout, and new features of CS3. I work on a PC (yes I know that is rare), so I am more familiar with the PC commands than mac, but I know that more often than not, the Ctril button on the PC is the same as the command button on the Mac, so they are the same!

Experience
I've been working in this field since 1988. Started out when they were still doing pasteup and using a wax machine :) Have worked on both Mac and PC on several programs, but my present employer uses PCs and I bought a PC for home so I could work at home. Right now, I work on educational/technical textbooks. I have experience with magazines, newspapers, corporate identity, page layout, and general design.

Education/Credentials
I have a BA in psychology with a minor in art, and am working towards an MA in Learning and technology integration (using computers to teach).

Subject: Printing a booklet

Question
I am new to InDesign.  I am trying to create a booklet out of letter sized paper, such that when you fold it in half, you create a 5 x 8 booklet.  In doing this, I'd like the first sheet I print to include the first page and the last page on one side, and then flip over the page in the printer and print the second page and the second to last page.

I am using facing pages and printing spreads, but when I do that, it prints out page 1 and 2 on the first page, 3 and 4 on the second page, etc.  So when I bind the pages, they are all out of order.

Is there a way in Adboe InDesign to automatically arrange the pages to print out correctly so I can fold then and bind them and they will print in order?

Thanks!

Answer
You should be able to do it with the "Print Booklet" function under your file menu. I have CS3 and it appears under my file menu - if you have a different version, let me know and i'll look when I go to work as I can't remember whether it's in the previous version or not (we have a pre-press house that does all that for us so i really don't use that function much).
