Expert: James Fritz Date: 5/18/2008 Subject: centering a frame on page
Question Hi James,
I was wondering if there was an easy way to center frames on a page. (other
then using the rulers)?. And is there a way to center a frame within a square
(only on x axis)? I am trying to center various Titles and sub titles and would
appreciate any shortcuts.
Thanks,
Answer Ian,
If you are using ID CS3, it is very easy. Open the align panel (window > object & layout > align) select the frame. In the align panel, you can choose if you want to align your frame to the selection, page, margin, or spread. Choose what you want and then select the horizontal or vertical align.
If you are using ID prior to CS3, you can select your frame. Now go to the control panel and make sure your reference point is in the center (the box on the left side of the control panel with 9 squares, choose the center one). Now go to the X field and type in the width of your page and /2. For example (8.5/2). This will put your frame 1/2 way across the width of the page.
Obviously, the CS3 version is better, but you can get around with the other way in earlier versions.
